Large Group Dining
Play food & wine offers seating for parties of up to 26 people on our second floor for either lunch or dinner. Our large tables can accommodate eight, ten and eight guests respectively to celebrate many types of events. This is an intimate, but non-private area located at the far end of our larger second floor dining room with beautiful windows overlooking the corner of York Street and Sussex Drive as well as a wonderful view of the Parliament buildings. We offer our full A-la-carte menu for groups of this size, although pre-fix menus are available, if required, to suit your party's needs. Please note that a 17% gratuity charge will be added to all guest checks of 8 or more people.
Play food & wine hosts unique private events such as weddings, fundraisers, book launches or company parties on the first floor of our restaurant for either stand-up cocktail receptions for up to 120 guests or sit-down private dinners for up to 42 guests. This area features large picture windows overlooking the bustling Byward Market. Amenities include an ipod dock for your personalized playlists, a wireless microphone for speeches, and a projector and screen for visual presentations.
Standing Cocktail Receptions — For groups up to 120 on the main level
Stand-up receptions at Play afford guests a variety of passed and plated food options including passed canapés, platters of artisan cheese, unique charcuterie plates and seasonally designed, stand-up food stations where our talented kitchen staff prepare small plates in front of guests in the dining room. All furniture can be removed to open the space completely to your guests. Our ground-floor dining room offers counter-height window sills ideal for lounging and grazing. Our resident sommelier, Kerri Smith, is available to pair featured wines to compliment your menu, taste, and budget. Our team of mixologists are also able to customize a special drink for your event.
Seated Private Dining — For groups up to 42 people
Guests take in the views from the first floor dining room while mingling with aperitifs and passed canapés, followed by a seated 4 or 5-course menu of small plates. Each plate is designed specifically for your occasion by our executive chef, Michael Moffatt, and paired with wines hand selected by our resident sommelier and wine director, Kerri Smith.
While there is no rental charge for the dining room, there are food and beverage minimums required which vary depending on the day of the week and season. A room charge will be added to the bill when the minimums are not met with normal consumption.
